INGLEWOOD NEWS.

(from oub own oobbespohdeht.) A meet rati of the local branch of the New Zealand Farmers' tfnicm wae held lest Friday evening to discuss the arrangements made between the Commercial Union Accident Insurance Company and the Union. Mr 0. Leech presided, there being about 20 members present. The secretary of the branch reported that he had great difficulty in obtaining auy person willing to aot as local agent fcr tha company, as the commission offered I was rather lower than other companies. Eventually, On Mr George stating his willingness to accept the Appointment, he was duly recommended. The question of noxious weeds was brought up (ar discussion, when it was resolved, on the motion of Mr W. Marshall, jun., seconded by Mr Q. Old, that in consequence of the rapid spread of ] ragwort, landholders be requested to report to the secretary of the tfnion such lands as are infested, tind that he be instructed to write to the inspector asking him to take immediate stops to have the weed destroyed before the seed ripens, I hear there was a large attendanc? at the Savage Club on Monday evening to hear a mock trial case. One member, aoting for the evening as a licensee of an hotel, was duly charged with serving drink after hours. The case listed for two hours, honours being about even, and proved a source of much amusement to the members and their friends.

I regret to have to report that Mr Norman Fearn died of rheumatic feror j on Monday morning at bis father's residence. Mrs George Beadle, a sister of deceased, also lost her only daughter on the afternoon of the same day. Although the daughter was quite & baby, and hid been ailing for some time, the double loss on the same day is a misfortune keenly felt.
