The Guards paraded on Tuesday night, when there was a fair mus'er, under Chptain Taunton and Lieutenants Cook and Holmes. The company wa» marched round to the vacant land in Brougham - street, and there put j through some useful exercises. ■ Lieutenant-Colonel Ellis was also | present, and Captain Major, of the I Hawera Rifles, was put through the I practical part of the examination for [his commission.
