THE ESCAPED PRISONERS.
Thß WANSANUI MBN RBOAPTDRBD. PEE PRESS ASSOOIATIOK. Wanganui, January 7. Three of the escaped prisoners (McDonald, Moons, and Howard) were recaptured near Kai Iwi at 5.30 tonight. The police had been out scouring the district ever since the fscapp, and the capture was cleverly effected by Constables Campbell and Ward, working in conjunction with Constables Hughes and Olous-on. The man were brought into town at 9 p.m. and locked in the police cells. The other man (Thurston) is still at large, but has been tracked as far as Fordell, and the police are confident of catching him.
No further news h»d been received late last night by the local police regarding the wheteabou's of Schremer, who esoaped from the New Plymouth gaol on Monday.
