INGLEWOOD NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A dinner given by the JTawera Mountnd Rifles was held in the Foresters' Hall on Thursday evening, to welcome home Captain Mathewp. There were about 60 t arsons present, Mr. E. Yickers occupying the chair, Mr. Pe.oival the vice-chair. After partaking of the good things on the ables, which wore supplied by Mr. A. Lile in bin mini first-class style, a lengthy toast list was gone through, a very enjoyable evening being brought to a cI"S3 in the wee hours of the morning. The annual school concert was held in the Parish Hall last Thursday evening, but owing to tho ioclemant weather, the attendance was not as largo as last year, There whs a very fair attendancs of the young ones, who saemed to appreciate the concert very tnucb. Following are some of the principal items: —Mr Kswe, sing, Romany Lass; Miss Bowring, sqng, Li Serenade; Mien Mayneburg, song, The Batter Land. A duet entit'ed In the daflt of the twilight, was sung by Misses Mayneburg and Kenny. There were also several recitations by the children.

Last Friday night a fira broke out in Mr A. Galmins' slaughterhouse, and destroyed nearly .£3OO worth of txllow and hides belonging to himsslf and another butcher.

Our local Post Office is completed, and men are at work now fitting it up with all the necessary requirements for conducting the postal business.
