(From Our Own Correspondent). The Wesleyan Sunday School Anniversary was a pronounced success. Rev. J. H. White distributed the book rewards in the afternoon service, a beuitiful and valuable collection, which, to judg-i by the beaming eyes, delighted the recipients. The church was crowd' 4 to the dqors qt flight tq hear Rev. John Dukes, from Hawera, and a most profitable sermon was preached. On Friday the picnic attraced large numbers and was a time of grfat enjoyment, while the evening entertainment crowned the whole. The school was full, the programme excellent, and Rev. J. H. White proved a capital chairman. An irstrumental solo was given by Miss Macintosh, and the Sunday School children, under Mns Browning, gave saveral pleasing items. We had songs from Mr A. Putt and Mr A. Wells, recitations from Master J. Ilughson, Miss Ka'e Humphrey, Master T. Hugbsoc, and Mr Englefield, a violin solo from MissC-in-nell, duets from the Misse3 Humphreys and Corbett, Collis and Cannell, pianoforte solo Miss Roebuck, pianoforte duet Miss Collis and Block, and a number of items rapturously received from Mr C. Gills' splendid giaphophone. Yoteg of thanks to all helpers, the ladies frojp New Plymouth and Mr C. Gill for his unique service, closed a very happy meeting. The proceeds of the anniversary were about £lO, Rev. S. J. Serpell preaches here Sunday morning next. Arrangements are already ranking for the New Year's Day picoic for the Wesleyan Church Trust, which is likely to be a most attractive fixture.
