SAD FATAL FIRE.
THREE OHILDREN PERISH IN THE FLAMES. PBB PBBSS ASSOCIATION, Napiee, November 22. A fire occurred cear Te Aute about miduight last night, which was, unfortunately, attended with fatal results, three children being burnt to death. The bouse was a small one, and was owned and occupied by" a half caste named Bupene Eruetu (Reubio Edwards) who at the t : me of the occurrence was away homo, shearing at Eereru. The house was burned to the ground, Edwards' wife, a Maori woman, and another native wtman who was sleeping in the house at the time, just succeeds! in escaping with the baby. The three older cbildrec, however, a girl 12 yeirs.of age, another girl of four years, and a boy of about four years, were burned to death, the remains being charred beyond recognition. Much sympathy is ftlt for the parents, both amoDgst natives and Europeans, Edwards being well known throughout this district.
