PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. j Auckland, Novemer 21, I At the Supreme Court a young! Maori named M&tui Tane was convicted of attempted rape on a Maori woman, and sentenced to four years' imprisonment, and 25 lashes. Nelsof, November 21.
In the Supremo Court, the Chief Justice admitted May f-iffurd to six mon hs probation for c >tcealment of birth ; Walter Wm. J. Hall got six mouths' hard labour for theft of Govern- | men!; moneys from the Mofcueka Post Office. Both prisoners had pleaded I guilty in the Lower Court.
