Wellington, November 8, The McKeoaie Memorial Committeo met to-day, and decided to ereot a caii n on Puketeoritai, a bigh hill on the late Sir Jobn McKenzie'a estate at Heathfield, and to place the procuring of a marble bust for the Farliamentory Library in the hands of the AgentGeneral in Lindoo. The treasurer reported that subscriptions to dat> totalled .£540, and that there were twenty-three Bubscrip'ion lists outstanding. Messrs Lee, Smith, Bigg, Thomas MoKenzie, and E. G. Allen were appointed a sub-committee to carry out the works proposed. It was explain, d that the proposal to erect a cairn on Puketapu was abandoned owing to pioaibitive terms and conditions being asked for by the owner of the land.
