OUR OLD SOLDIERS.
A further meeting was held last evening in connection with the suggestion to entertain the old soldiers who had fought in the Maori war. There wa* only a small attendance, and an apology for absence was read from Rev, F, G Evans. Mr Hill, the chairman, said it appeared that there was no chance of Sir Hector Mac Donald coming, and w the unveiling ceremonies would tike place on Sunday, the. only thing Mt for the meeting was to watch for thp old soldiers who attended and arrange for a dinner for them. This view was agreed to, and it was finally decided to revert to the original intention, and that a meeting of do scendants of old soldiers be held ou I Wednesday next to arrange for a reunion of old soldiers. A committee was also set up <o that old soldiers attending the ceremonies were entertained.
