RECREATION GROUNDS BOARD.

A meeting of the Recrettion Grosnd'ri Board was beld at Mr R. C. Hughes' office on Friday evening, Messrs, Gjvett-, Hughes, and Ford (secretary) being present. A resolution was passed thanking Mrs Gordon for her donation of ferns. Mr E. Dockrill, chairman of the Bind Coatest Committee, waited on the Board to urge a reduction in the charge proposed to be made for the use of the ground during the contest—namely, £lO eich day. He explained that the object of the committee was to ascertain as nearly as possible what the expenses would be, and he pointed out the liberal way in which the Wanganui committee had been treated relative to the charge for the grounds where contests, etc., took place. At the same time he indicated that certain improvement were necessary to make the Recreation Ground suitable for the purpose. A committee consisting of Messrs. Govett and Skinner was appointed to confer with representatives of the Content Committee on the ground, and both points raised by Mr Dockrill will subsequently be considered by the Biard. Mr Newman was appointed caretaker for the month, and a vote of thanks to the Sish and Door Company for a liberal donation of timber for seats was passed,
