VOLUNTEER NOTES.
A battalion parade of the Taranaki , RffiVs (under Lieutenants Oock and : Hooker), and Tarnnaki Guards (under . Lieut ec-an*; Holmes), and Battalion '■ Band (under BaodmsstiT Hnigh) wus [ held on Thursday afternoon. The battalion officers present were Colonel , Ellis, Major Okey, and Adjutant-Cap- '. tain Taunton. The men «ere marched . to the racecourse, where they wera " exercis d in field work, and practising 3 the attack.
