PER PBESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, October 23. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce. 1 it was stated thrre were numerous com-, plaints abeut the delay on the part of the > Government in paying for work done, and in ' consequence storekeepers c?ul 1 not get their money. The following resolution was. 1 carried: —" That owing to the number of ' complaints over the great delay in making . payments by the Government in Wellington . ; for goods supplied and work done, this, , Chamber respectfully urges the Government to jtake immediate steps to expedite public ' works and other payments after accounts for , the same have been duly checked aod passed i by the proper authorities.
