TARANAKI RIFLE VOLUNTEERS.

A special meeting of the Taranaki Rifle Volunteers was held on Monday evening, when it was decided to classify and handicap the company for shooting competitions. The sum of £1 was voted to the first class, and £2 each j to the second *nd third classes The, first competition will be held this after- j nooD, the sime ranges as for the c'ock. The following handicaps have been de-' I clared for the class prizes: I I First Class.—Ciptain Okey, Lieut, Hooker, Colour-Sergeant Okey, Sergeants Lever, Lister, and Smith,, scratch; Corporal Armitage, 2 points ; Corporal Hopkins, Privates Bacon,! Davidson, and Gardiner, 6 ; Sergeant Armitage and Private Nisbett, 8. Second Class.— Corporals Oilmour and Priar, Privates 0. E. Bellringer, E. S. Allen, Wallen, W. Butler, E. Butler, H. Petch, Rogers, Simons, and F. H. Morgan, scratch ; Lance-Oorpl. Howell and Private A. N. Allen, 2 points ; Privates Baskett," Balneaves, Rowan, Finn, and H. Bellringer, 4; Corporal Boulton, Privates Hendry and Martin, 6. Third Class.—Privates Brown, Beals, Doughty, H. ft. Duller, MoOullum, and Ward, scratch; Private E. 8. Clarke, N. F. Clarke, H. T. Cock, Murphy, Pyecroft, and Treeby, 2 points; Privates H. J. Duller, Peek, Limmer, Lucre, McLean, Nixon, Prenton, Reid, Richardu, Sole, J. H. Cock, Foxcroffc, and Sadler, 4. Attendance at inspection parades will count points towards the prices.
