GOVERNMENT CAUCUS.

PER PBESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, October 15. At a caucus of the Government parly, held to-day, about forty members were present. The Premier sdd the imported products of Australia which would ba brought under special review would be reSned sugar, fruits, timber, coal, Australian wines, oils, salts, furniture; and he laid special stress on cjal, sugar, fruits, timber, and especially in respect to making large concessions in favour of sugar refined in the colony. It was also announced there is to be an amendment of the Workers' Com-1 pensation for Accidents Act in the direction of allowing mortgages to remain secured, and the exemption of casual labour, practically bringing the Act into lioe with the Act, Mr'Seddon assured the cauoua if the Estimates were finished this week there was nothing to prevent the stssion ending the firs'-, week in November.
