ADA DELROY COMPANY.
The above company gives a performance at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday next, September 18tb, which wiil be the only performance in New Plymouth on account of the Theatre not being at liberty on the dates required. It is unfortunate that ths company is unable to mike a longer stay, as the reputation made on the previous visit is sufficient to guarantee bumper houses. During the four and a half years that have elapsed, 'Miss Delroy has toured her company over a considerable portion of the world, having played in England, South Africi, India, China, Manila, etc. Miss Delroy is fully alive to the fact that what fetches the public most is keeping things right up-to-date, and being possessed of keen business ability it is very seldom that an opportunity is missed by her. As a burlesque artiste and commedienne, it is difficult to find her equal, but it is as a danseuse that sbe mostly wills the hearts of the people. While in England, Miss Delroy perfected a fire dance entitled "She" (inspired by Rider Haggard's novel). It was first produced by her at the Empire, London. On account of the weird nature and sensational character of the dance it very quickly caused quite a furore. It depicts Ayesba entering the " Fire of Life," gradually being consumed by the flames which leap around her until all that is left is a heap of charred remains. It is described as being the most sensational dance ever witnessed, and is as weird as it is graceful and fascinating. Another item quite now to these parts is the " Life of Joan of Arc," a grand historical spectacle in 12 tableaux. The White Mahatma is still a member of the company, and causes as great, or even greater, consternation th>n ever. The entertainment, is n.>w much stronger in specialities than ever. A fund of humour is supplied which is entirely free from anything that is in the slightest, degree objeeti naMe or of a suggestive natur\ Theatr -go tg s aud pleasure seekers have n'>w an opportunity of a capital night's heal hy amusement, enjoying a good hearty laugb, which iB nature's own tonic.
