GROWN TENANTS' RENT.
In view of the frequent references made in the Hotise to the rebates allowed on Crown tenants' rents, two returns laid on the table were more interesting thin the ordinary run of returns. The first was one called for by Mr. R. Thompson, showing the number of Crown tenants who have bee a granted 10 per cent, rebate on rent for the two half-yearly payments dm January and July, 1901, as follows: - Auckland; Hawke's Bay, and W estland, nil; Tatanaki, 1; Wellington, 1123; Ifelson, 6; Marlborough, 30; Canterbury, 554; O'ag", 481; Southland, 178; totnl, 2373. The second return, called for by Mr. Symes, showed the amounts ef reWe allowed to Crown tenants under the *ct of 1900, as under: —Auckland land district, 1214 tenants,{representing a to al. rebate of £24; Taranak ; , 4 teaants, representing £3; Wellington,, ,1657 tenants, representing £980; Nslsira, 89 tenants, representing £10; Marlborough, 47 tenants, representing £117; Canterbury, 678 tenants, representing £1130; Otago, 834 tenants, representing £474; Southland, 220 tenants, representing £115; total, 3653 tenants, representing £2857.
