MADAME BELLE COLE'S CONCERT.

"Madame Belle Cole, the worldrenowned contralto, will give only one song recital in New Plymouth. Mad-, ame - Cole was born in America, and sang from the time she four een years of age. Fourteen yeirs ago Madame Belle Cole went to England, and met Sir Joseph Barnby, who was so struck with her phenomenal voice that he at once engaged her to sing in six oratorio performances in tbe Royal Albert Hall. 8d successful was M*dame Belle Cole that engagaments poured in from all parts of England, She has taken part in all the principal festivals throughout England, Ireland and Scotland, and has sung before the late Queen, and most of the crooned heads of Europe. The Sydney Bulletin, speaking of Madame Cole, says:—" She is a wonderful woman, and sang * Sweat Genevieve' as an enoore, and it was not only a work of art but a great creation,"

Mr. John Prouse is the possenor of a beautiful natural voice, and by Mr. Ohas. S&ntley's advice he underwent a course of training in Europe. Before Mr. Prouse left England ha sang in St. James' Hall, Oiyat&l Palac <, and many other London and suburban concerts. One of his greatest performances was taking the Prophet's part in " Elijah " in St. James' Hall. Since returning to New Zealand in has suog with great success in over two hundred concerts with Md!R throughout New Ze <hnd and Australia.
