THE "LIZZIE BELL" RELIEF FUND.

It is very satisfactory to record that the praiseworthy actieo of Hia Worship the Mayor (Mr. E. Dockrill) in opening a subscription l:sc in aid of the survivors of the bv que Lizzie Bell, recently wiecked off Oeo, has met with a response that sp aks well of the sympithetio feeling which animates tha ci izens of New P y mouth. With the afgistmce of the Rov. F. 6. Evans, who collected £7 ss, and of Mr. John Mynott, whose efforts ia the good cause brought in about £l6, the Mayor has been enabled to forward a total of £34 18s Sd to the committee io charge of the administration of the fund. In acknowledging receipt of the amount, the chairman, Rev. A. W, H. Coropton, of Opunakc, wrote to the Mayor as follows :—"I beg to acknowledge with most hearty thanks New Plymouth's generous addition to the " L'zzie Bell" fund. Will you kindly convey to Mr. Evans and Mr. Mynott the grateful fhiuks of the committee. . . . Tha New Plymouth contribution being so much in excess of what we anticipated we s'oall now be able to do something for those of'the survivors who need it, and two or three widowed and bereaved mothers."
