(fkom our own correspondent). The Waitara Harbour Board huld its monthly meeting on Friday last, Pre s<ant: Messrs Snell (chaitman), Riddell, Obftppell, Stubby Pigott,, S ott and Ogle. A letter was received f:om Mr. Symes, M.H.R., promising to as ist as far as possible with re-pec to the grant of .£SOO fur the Waitira biidge. Messrs Burge=s, Fraser and C>, submitted plius of proposed new building, which were referred to tin works committee. Mr. StoU proposed rha<; the New PU month EUtbour Board should ba written to a'd a ked whether the dredgo " Thomas King " w.s for sale. Oirritd. The Secretary of the Board expres-iod the opinion that if the north wall was carried out another 50 or 60 feet the'-e would be a grpat improvement at the entrance to the river, bu f . a grpat number of people hero would like to know what Mr. L slie Reynolds' views are on the subject, as his report has cot yet seen daylight. A special meeting of the Town Board was held yesterday evening to arrange details for opening the public library. Present: Messrs Ogle (chairmen), Chi»ppell, Hignett and Pearce. The architect reported thit certain items connected with the specifications had not been completed, and the contractor will be required to see to the matter forthwith. Arrangements were made for the removal of the necessary fuvoiturei from the old institute, and for tho supply of all up to date magazines and papers. On the proposal of Mr. Hignett, seconded by Mr. Pearce, it was decided to advertise for applications for the position of custodian, and a committee consisting of the Chairman and Messrs Hignett aud Fraser were appointed to attend to necessary datails.
