The Ashburton County Council Empowering Act Amendmeat 811 end the Woodville County Bill were read a second time, and the Polos Offences Amendment Bill was read a third time and passed, and the Council rose at 2.52 p.m. HOUSE OP BEPBESENTATIVES. Tuesday, 6th Atrausr. The House met at 10.80 a.m. The Rhodes Trust Bill »as read a second time. Mr Seddon gave notice to introduoe The Exposure aad Sale of Preventatives Prevention Bill. When the report of the Coil Mints Commission w« laid on the table, Mr Ouinneis presented a petition from the Wallsend miners denying the statement of one of the witnesses that the mine was worked out, In reply to Captain Russell, Mr. Seddon mi if the Financial Statement was cot brought down tbis week it would be down early next week. He that he had been fsce to faoe with difficulties that had delayed it, and he had once or twice indicated to th« House the nature of those diffiulti«. I In reply to questions, Minister* itnted that legislation was absolutely necessary to prohibit the sale of Maori, curios and relics outside the colony, and that the Government had the natter under consideration, and legislation would be introduced; the fornution of a national collection, illustrating the history of the Maori race, had also been decided on by the Government, and Mr. Btowell, of Hawera, waa engaged in the work; that, as far as the Government was aware, the reforms established at the Stoke Orphanage «etw now working satisfactorily; that it waa the intentiea of the Government to idrtablish a State coal mine, and a site wag being selected, and Parliament would be asked tbis seuioa to give the necessary authority and appropriation to on y out the scheme; that as far as the Government is concerned naval aad military land cla'ms have been finally settled, unlets Parliament determined to ro-open the matter; that the Government intended to make inquiry into the difference of premium charges oetween the Government Accident Insurance Company and the Ocean Accident Insurance Company. The House adjourned at 1 o'clock, Aftuxook Srmio. The House met at 3 30. Mr. James Allen resumed the debute oa the motion for the second reading of the Biting on Unimpioved Values Act Amendment Bill, which wte injterrupted by the 6.30 adjournment. Evnmro Srmso. The Housi resumed at 7.50 p.m. Amendments made by the Lsgislative Council in the Police Offences lot Amendment Bill were agreed to. Mr. Laurens ra resumed the debet* on the Bating on Unimproved Valuta Act Amendment Bill. At 8.25 p.m. Hon. Hall-Jooea moved tlv» adjournment of debate, Mr. Seddon then rots and announced that he had received the following telegram: -" Father his just passed awav at 7.30. His end wsa peace.— J. MoKbnzie " Mr, tfeddon then moved the adjournment of the House, and added that later on he would move a further adjournment, as many members would like to piy their last respects to their old comrade. The motion was agreed to, and the Housa rose at 8.30.
