He was unable to gat a seconder amongst thase , " public-spirited" members, and the 'motion consequently lapsed. Th* Waitara Harbour Board se<m very anxious to " burk " this report, wbioh had the audacity to charge them with " pothering with titir work," but the matter is not yet by any means done with. This is a glorious example o? what can be accomplished by a purely nominated Board whioh evades its public responsibilities in am inner whioh an tdeoted Board would not dara to do. Mr. H'gnett gave notice to move at the next meeting of the Biard " that the Waitara Harbour Board be r*-que-ted to take such steps rs may be necissary by planting sand grass, or other me»ns, to prevent the destruction of Town Bjard streets on the east side |of the rivdr inismuch as the Waihiroidis now covered by sandhills and Akinsou-street is graduallr getting into a similar condition by r. ason of encro tchmeot." Accounts amounting to .£llO were psssed for payment, and the Board rose.
