1 » ' The Returning Officer, Mr P. 8. ; Whitcombe, "on Tuesday opened the voting papers in connection with the election of three members to £ll the | vacancies on the Education Board ' caused by the retirement of Mips Heywood, Messrs Allsworth and Hignett. [ As this was the first election UDder the Act of last session, and the voting was by individual members of committeep, it was anticipated that there would be a fairly large Dumber of informal votes, ] r and such proved to be the case, no less > ' than 58 papers being rejected as not I ' properly filled in. while seven/ ' could not be received owing to the ' post mirk on the cover being of a later date than that prescribed (July 22nd)., The business commenced shortly after' ' 11 a.m. and was not concluded till 2.45. The scrutineers preient were Messrs. Mark Hopson, Gaukrorjgar, F. . White and A. Weller. The following was the result of the poll, the eld members being re-elected:— B. A. R.Glegg .. 29 1 We understand that a count was r made of the informal voting papers, 1 and the result showed that these votes ', were divided in almost the same prob portion amongst the candidates as the e sound votes and therefore no candidate \ was prejudicially affected by the rejected votes.
