NEW PLYMOUTH GAS COMPANY.

At the twr".ty-third annual held on Monday, Mr. A. Shuttleworta pi-siding, the annual report was rfad and adop'ed rs fol'ows: The directors beg to submit their twenty-third annual report and statement nf accounts for the yew endfd Junu 30th, 1001, and to congra'u'ate shareholders on the successful fesulc of the buuooss translated. Tho amount, available for distribution (inc)udiug the balance brought fonva> d from last year) is £1231 8s Id. The sum the directors rocommnod to be appropriated is as follew*: -To payment of a dividend at the ra'e of 9s per share on first is*up (fully paid up); and a dividend of 10|d share on tbe second issue (10s paid up), including the in'erim divid*nd paid on both issues in January last .£989 lis 8d ; leaving to be carnal forward a balance of ,£241 16s sd, Upon confii motion by the sbareho'd<'rs of the firegoing appropriation tho dividend will be payable at tbe o'ose of the meeting. Tbe directors have decided to futther reduce che price of gas by increasing the discount as from th» Ist July instant, to Is 8d per 1000 cub'c feet to general customers; being a net charge of 8s 4d instead of 9s 2d per 1000 cubic feet.

Messis E. Dockrill and T. Furlong, the retiring directors, were re-e'ectcd, and Messrs J. S. and J. C. Davits were appointed auditors.

A vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring directors, ar.d an honorarium of .£SO wjis voted to them, and the rnseticg adjourned.
