The judge* fiading states that tbe evidence submitted to them does nob in their opinion substantiate the allegation that Holmes did not endeavour to win the race, tbe judges have no option but to dismiu the appeal, as Rule 117 provides that no appeals shail be against questions of fact. Sir Jrseph Ward addressed the Racing Conference this morning, congratulating it upon the work done, and ■tated it was not intended to inti oduce any legis'atioo this year affecting the totalisator or to'e betting. In regard to the ques'ion of voting powethe Conference announced that the Taranaki Jockey Club, Greymouth Jockey Club, Tatanaki District acd Canterbury District (north of Hmunui) and Greymoaih District Clubs should have two votes each. A committer was set up,.to meet in Christchurch in Novembar, to enquire into means of dealing locally with the large and increasing trainers and jockeys provident funds. Latkr. The Conference sat to-night and got through h large amount of business. Dates submitted to the Conference Were approved, with the following exceptions: Dunedin Jockey C üb, granted November f2B acid 30, or December 26 and 28 for Spring Meeting ; Palmerstan South Racing Club, granted January Ist; Te Aroha Jo -key Club, February 16 and 17; Dunedin jJockey Club Club, Mav 21 and 24 ; Egmoat Racing Club, May 7 and 8; Napitr Park Club, July 2 and 4. The Westland and Southland Racing Clubs will bo ssked to select dites, to be approved by the Chairman. On the motion of Mr Samu 1 (Tannaki), seconded by Mr Friedlander, Sir George Clifford was re-elected Chairman for the ensuing year.
