TI'KAPA I. v. STRATFORD I. These teams met for the second time this se-ioa at S ra'ford on Thursday, Tukapa winning easily by eight- en points to nil. Stratford woo tho tos-*, and D iwas kicked off for Tukapa, The «ame had hardly got started when Dr. Fookes sco.ed. Dawes took tha kick at go.il which went neir tha upright, no goal resulting. After the feick out tight play took place in thTukupj's quarters, but Mynott, with a »ong kick, taved. was dribbled up the field, and, from the scrambla, Dawes scored in a favourable position, but that player again failed with the kick at goal. Morrison kicked out for Stratford, and Tukapa, not to be denied, at once took the play to tk"ii opponent.! quartets, and from a free kick Dawes kicked an unmUtakeable go-1. Tims was call d shortly afterwards, the tcore being Tukapa .. ~ 9 Stratford .. ~ 0 Straifi rd kicked off for tha etarb of ♦he second spell, and the ball beiDg ricely re urned the play centred for a while, but Jenfeinson getting the ball from the scrum p-.ssed to Mynott, who made it over to Foakea, by whom it was traneferi ed to Smith who foolishly potted when in a good position to score, md from the kick-out the ball went to Mynott, who made a fine f peniug, and pawed to Fookes, who mulled the haU, owing to the greasy E&t U re of tha ground. From the scrum that was formed, the Tukapa forwards t~ok all hefore th~m, and Dawei dribblins nicely up t 1 e field scored in a good pasition, Lut failed with the'kick at goal. Morrison kicked out for Stratford, and following up well, spoilt the return, At this time matters looked very black for Tukapa, but their forwards by a combined rush took tbe play to the : other end of the field. Mynott getting possession, passed to W. H. Fookep, who, after a fire run, scored, but Dawes again failed with tbe kick.' After the kick out the ball travelled u > and down the field, and from a f >rward rush, Jenkins picked up and pass d to Mynott, who transfered to Smith, and he to Fookes, who again scored, but Dawes once mote failed wi (h the kick. At the ca'l of time shortly afterward?, the game stood : ' Tukapa .. ]g S ratford ~ q The score was made up of four trie?, and a penalty go.]. The following played well for their resp"ctive sides • - For Stratford, Frank Bayly, O'C .rroll j Rule, asd of the forwards—Morrison' O'Connor and Revell. On the Tukapa side tbe backs all played a good game Jenkineon, Mynott, atd Fookv S (2) i played a great gams, considering thwet ball, whils among the forwards, Greenback, Priar, Loveridge (2) and Ds Launy shone out. The groun.t was in a dieadful state after the rain fell in the morning, and the Tukapa :o ba congratulated on their fine display. Mr. Sutten, of Hawera was r. fe'ee, and his dcc'sioas gave .aM.-f ction to both sides. Mesirs Jaroeroi. and Pre etor were line umpire?,
In the match Star 111. v . Inglewood 111., played at Inglewood, Btar won by nine points to nil, Pyao.oft sooted the threo tries for Stars. The game was well contested, but the superior combination cf the visitors' backs told iu the result. Mr. Oaudel aetid as referee, acd carried out his dutie3 in an impartial maimer.
