POLICE COURT.
Thursday, 7tb July, —Before Mr. E L Stanford, S.M. Sheriff Lowe was charged with breaking and entering the dwe'ling of Wa Kee and f-t-aling a banjo and gold ring. Accused, who was reprosented by Mr. F Wilson (Mr. Weston), reserved his defence, and w k committed for trial, bail being al'owed '"n two sure'ies of £25 each James Ireland was charged with stealing a watch belonging to A. L McDuff, of Inglewood. Mr F. Wilson (Mr. Weston) defended the accused. According to the evidence of Mr. McDuff, he lost a watch fro.n his beircnm early in June, and he identifi. d I he watch produced in Court as bein» tbe some as that he lost, Evid>nce was given by Mr. Grylls, of the Railway HoM, to the effect that McDuff pid eccused occupiel besoms ne'r each other at tbe ho'el. Subs qnontly. according to the evidence of Mr. J. H Parkfr, accused took the watch to him to be repaired. Eventually the watch was handed to the police. C.instab'B Young proved arresting accused, who made a written stifament to tbe effect that he gave £2 for the watch, which be bought from a m m outside the Railway Hotel. Accused ressi ved his defence and was committed for trial, bail being allowed in two sureties of £SO each,
