INGLEWOOD NEWS.

(Oar Own Correspondent.) The local Savage Olub entertained the re'urned troopers last evening at their Olub roams. The entertainment tcok the form of a social evening, there being no programme to follow, each individual—member playing chess, draught*, or cards, or singing, playing musical instruments, or yarning to his friends, as he felt inclined. The only tout of the evening was " Our Guosis," propped by the Chairman about half past nine, and drunk with musical honors. In respoading to the toosl Trooper Hansen said that it was a lval pleasure to m»et bis old companions in this free and eisy style, and would be only too pleased to ttll them anything he knew ab:ut tbe war in S.uth Africt. A geueral discussion then ensued about the Hospital arrangements in Bleemfontein, the troopers flatly denying tbe asc rtioc that Mr. Burdett Coutts acted from selfish motiv.s. Trooper Hansen spoke very strongly on the statement that Burdett CouUs had six waggcn loids of norland equipments _ ra<led to Bloemfoßtein, when the railway was wanted for hospital stores. Ue heard the same question asked in tbe House cf Commons, whin Mr. Burdett Coutts stated that there was not tbe slightest truth in tbe statt ment whatever. An enjoyable evening was brought to a close about 12 o'clock with the singing of " Auld Ling Syne."

B:ewer's interes', I believe, was sold for £2500, making a, tot-1 of £7500 for the hotel as a going concern, which, in my opinion, mean* £2OOO for hotel and land, £IOOO for furniture", and £4500 for half the liquor monopoly of Inglewood,
