A spscial train with the Maori Contingent r'ached New Plymouth at 3 a.m. this (S it urcUy) morning, and were immfdi'twly taken on to the Breakwater. There they were put on boird the Ngapuhi, which hid returned ah 10.30 o'c'oek las'; night after a very smirt run down from Or.ehungn. ■ Arrargements for tbe embarkation were vary comple'e. Mr. W. D.Webster, local agent of the Northern S.S. Company, and Mr, Will' ston, private secretary to the Hon. Jas. Cairoll, Native Minister, went to Hawora by tbe 4 o'clock train yesterday and met the special, so that all details were attended to on the train, and delay avoided at the chip's side. The Con'ingent included the following influential chiefs :—Tamahau Mahupuku (Wairarapa) and TaDgata Kei Hapuku (Hawke's Bay). Mr G. P. Donnelly and Captain R. T. Blake, of Hawke's Bay, accompanied the-natives.
Mr. T. W. Fisher, Native Agent hrr.», went down to Hawera with Mr. Wehster, and assisted in the somewhat difficult work of get'ing passage tickets fixed up for the dusky celeb ationifcts.
In th<) anended orders issued from headquarters relative to the military programme m connection with the Royal visit, no time is mentioned for the departure of t he variousYoluuteere and cadets for Wellington ; but it i* stated that the Royal landing wi ! l take p'ace at 2 p.m.on the 17th. A'l available troops from the Well ; £tu district will embaik on transports fcr Ohristrhurrh between 4 and 9 pm. on June 19th, and be encamped at Addington till the afternoon of the 22nd, when they return to Wellington.
