A quantity of sundries made low rates. The special sale of fur goods was fairly well attended ; most of t.hj articles sold at pricein fnvour of purchasers. On Monday at Loppeiton I held a clears ing sale of furniture, etc., on account of Mr. 0. F. Atkinson, wher everything was sold at very satisfactory prices. The week has been noticeable for th.B heavy rise in Bank of New Zealand shares which are now at demand at 455. National Banks have also seen a further improvement. Other stocks do not presontany special features The Waihi group of mines have been dealt in, but prices have not yet recovered. The West (Jcast dredging market has been much m n active and improved returns have occasioned considerable business, a number of stocks being largely dealtin. The Central Mataura dredge has bad her alterations completed and local shareholders will, we believe, soon be gratified by good
