CO-OPERATIVE WORKMEN.

[PBB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, May 7. During last month the Government employed 5569 men on co-operative works. Of these the Survey Department had 2692, Auckland district 956, Wellington 757, Public Works Department 245 artisans and 2632 labourers. All but 39 of the artisans and 49 of the labourers were employed on railway works. The North Island main trunk line absorbed 1072, the Otngo central 504, the Midland 320, and Blenheim 234.
