THE RETURNED CONTINGENTS.

The storm which prevented communication with the Tongariro with the returning members of the New Zealand contingents in the morning abated somewhat as day wore on. The Tutanakei which h«d a rough time of it put in at Oamiru, whwe the Premier and Mrs. S'ddon were landed and cime on by train. Oa reaching Port Chalmers it was found to be impossible to go on board the ToDg'iriro, and all idea of bringing Ikt into prri had to be abandoned for the day. The programme for the reception at Port Chalmers and Dunedin will be carried out to-morrow. Tbo men fioai the north leave by spitial train on Thursday morning, stopping for ten minutes at CUmaru, about an hour at Timaru, and for a few niiou'es at Ashburton. Chrisfchurrh will be reached at 7 o'clock in the evening.
