REPAIRING THE EASTERN COMPANY'S CABLE.

PUB pttBSS ASSOCIATION. Wakapuaka, April 13. The Eastern Extension Cabin Com pany's repairing steamer Recorder 1 arrived in bay this afternoon. She has 1 baen repairing ono of tbe cables between Australia and New Zealand and called in here to make sura that th» splice in the cable which was paid over 'the ships side in a <ery heavy gale had not pared before it reached the bottom. Everything being found satisfactory she sailed at three o'clock for Sydney en route for Singapore.
