SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The School Commissienr-rs mat yesterday (Friday). Present: Messrs. R. Cock (chairman), A. Wade, Faull, J. Sfcrauchon, and C. K. Stock. Miniates of the previous meeting wetvj read and confirmed. Mr. T. Smith, of Stratford, wrote in reference to the rent and improvements on a section held by hiua.—lt was decided to iisform Mr. Smith of the date of next meeting, when the Board will bj willing to discuss the matter with h m. A memorandum was reeeived from the Tre snry notifying that a sum of money had been remitted to the credit of the Boird for fencing a road through a Reclion at Purangi.—The secretary explained that the money hsd come to the bank, but owing to the grant being addrased to the "New Plymouth" Commissioners it had to be referred back to th« Treasury. The Marine Department wrote that the matter of the removal of soil f 'om rfservss on the foreshore between the Huatoki and Rivers was one for the coosidtrUion of the Harbour Boird,

The Taranaki Education Board wrote recommending the Commissioners to approach Mr. Gibbons with a view to purchasing half an sere of laud for school purposes at the ilimi. : Mr. Fanll explained that land was I scarce for educational purposes in the district. The Secretary was authorised to let sections from month to month to presont or other tenants until further arrangements are made.

The Treasurer's report showed a balance of £1241 18s 9J. It was resolved to allocate a sum of £BSO to primary education, and £l5O to secondary education. The Ranger's report was r«ad. He reported there need ba no objection to H. G. Johnston giving H. Brown an-i Co. a right t> cub timt.er on section.— Agreed to. The report dealt with the condition, etc., of a number af leases. In several cases blackberry bushes requirad attention. It was resolved to draw the Ranger's attention to names on the defaulter's list.
