(from our own correspondent). There are row about sixty men at work on the railway, and more are to be put on. I hear that Mr. Turner, our local tent maker, has orders in hind for seventy tents. Speaking at Wbangamomona, Mr. Symea declared thnj; the railway would bs in Strathmore in two years; a prophesy that I hope will come true. The Stratford Kifles have jus ft been into caunp for a week's training. Though the weather was not all that could be desired, some useful work was do»p snd an enjoyable time spent. The present uniform of thp cqrps, though eminently serviceable, is not exactly beautiful. New ones, I understand, are te be gat for full dress wear. I hope they come before the Duke of Cornwall arrives.

The last mestieg of the Borough Council was signalised by another lively debate on the question of laying a footpath to the Flint road. This is a piece of work that it is claimed will benefit chiefly if not exclusively people living outside the Borough. If re elected, Dr. Paget will, I understand, once moro move the ne>* Council to rescind the motion authorising the wcrk. Threats of a libel action are in the air.
