SUPPOSED WRECK OF THE FEDERAL.
[PER PRTCSS ASSOCIATION. Received 27, 10.40 p.m. Melbourne, March 27. Mr. McEachern thinks the Federal collided another vessel and tho Captain may have attempted to run to a harbour for refuge and in the fog lost his course. The owners are more bopeful the vessel may have wethered the storm. Mr. McEachern is firmly convinced she has not foundered. Received 28, 1.27 p.m. Melbourne, March 27. A steamer arrived from Newcastle reports that on Sunday nigbfc the crew saw a fire on the beach at Ram Head, ■some thirty miles south of Gabo. It is suggested if the Federal was wrecked the crew or some of them got ashore. There are, however, some fishing stations in the vicinity. The names of the crew are:—H. Step], boatswain ; H. Goetz, F. Gordon, W. Harris, E. Yarwond, C. Frankel, M. McTntyre, F. Holland, M. Fraser, A.B.'s; S. Harris, chief cook; F. Daniels, cook; W. Smith, mess-room steward; Deckhoff, Monaghan, S. McGuirp, F. Young, E. Parry, S. Belby, F. Parsico, F. Moran, E. Reynolds, firemen. Received 29, 1.17 a.m. Melbourne, March 28. The fate of the Federal is still unsolved, A pte&mer from Sydney today reports she ran close in to Gabo, hut Raw neither wreckage nor indications. TLe latest from Gabo states th=<t some wooden ship's beams came asho:e which cnu'd not po?sibly have belonged to the Federal.
