FIRES.

(pm ram Aisoeunoy. I Waiboa, March 26. The premises of Whiteing, tailor, were fownd on fire on Friday evening, two bags of charcoal being in a blaze. No one lived on the premises and Whiteing was vacating them next day. At the inquest nothing was elicited to connect anyone with the fire, but the! agent ef the North British Mercantile had £IOO in hi* name on tbe stock, which he supplied. There was not, however, £25 worth in the shop, and the jury censured him for net seeing the stock kept up to the amount ef the policy. Had the fire smouldered a few hours lenger there would have been a serious blaze.
