RATEPAYERS ASSOCIATION.

A. Meeting ef the Ratepayors AssOGia-' tion was held in the Council Chambers on Monday night. There was a good at-j tendance of mombers ;• His Worship the Mayor (Mr. E. Dookrill) presiding. His Worship explained that the meeting had been eonvoned for tfta pffrpose of electing officers, and spok« of the advantages of having a Ratepayers Association in Now Plymouth. Mr Alexander outlined the objects of the Association, which ho said would be conducted ou non-party lines. The rules submitted by the Commute© were discussed and si igh tly amended. The followiflg officers were then elected : —President, Mr. L* W. Alexander; Vice-President, Mr. 0. W, Govett; Committee, Messrs. M. J. Jones, J. Asher, and F. W. Richmond (WeH), L. R. Roberts. W. Jenklneon, and W. J. Shaw (East), W. Kerr, T. Furlong, and G. Tisoh (Central). The meeting tlun adjourned.
