Mrs Hutchinson and Mrs McKellar were appointed in place of Mrs. Robinson and Mrs Bauchope, as a subcommittee to examine specimens of sewing submitted by applicants for tho position of sewing mistress. Tho Chairman's action in paying ever £l2 10s of tho School Children's Patriotic Fund to the Taranaki Patriotic Fund, to provide comforts for our men l in Sooth Africa, was confirmed. A efolution was submitted by the Strati' <rd Committee, urging that steps be t.uen to improve the sewing in the |schools in the district. After some discussion and a division, it waa deoided by 5 to 4, tfyat the letter lie on the table.
A grant of J3 was made towards the j Stratford School Library. The Denbigh Road Committee wore granted jC(3 8s 3d towards fencing and grassing the grounds. Tbo Board went into Committee to consider the resignation of the Teachers' Selection Committee. On resuming, it was announced that the resignation had been withdrawn. Mr. Clarke, teacher at Toko, forwarded several photographs of the ceremony of hoisting the flag at the school qn November 9,th. They wera grateifttfly accepted by the Board. Mr. A. Hooker was appointed Trulant Inspnctor. There were five sppli'catiqna, j Accounts were passed, and the Board fese.
