Wellington, November 30. j The fieoond case against Brother Wybertus, that- for bilged indecent assault upon Thomas Owens, was begun before Mr. Justice Edwards this morning. Owens, in cross-examination, admitted he had written friendly letters to Wybertus since he left the Stoke School; also, when pressed, he acknowledged that two other boys had committed indecent actßto him; but he] at ill persisted that he was not in venting his charge against Wybertus. Brother Wybertus g&ve evidence on bis own behalf absolutely denying the allegations. Later. The Stoke case juiy, after twenty minutes retirement, returned a verdict of " Not guitly " against Bro. Wybertus ■on the charge of indecency. The same Accused was then charged with committing a common assault on William Ross in May, 1894. Ross' evidence was that he had been flogged for stealing bread, receiving 30 or 40 strokes with a supplejack on the bare skin. The case had not concluded when the Court rose.
