Oheistchueoh, November 29. ■A sensation was caused this merni*g <when it became known that a charge of embezzlement had been preferred against; one of the officials of the Sank. Rumours had been circulated for some days as to defalcations at the Bank, but little was de- ; finitely known until this morning, whenAiam Olliver, the teller at the Bank, surrendered himself to the police, He was brought to the Police Court a little later and charged with having misappropriated moneys amounting to .£1386. The police applied for a remand. * i£r. Kippenberger, for accused, in applying for bail, said that nearly £4BO «f £1386 alleged to be embezzled had been returned, therefore the amount missing was only £960. V A remand was granted till -Tuesday, and bail allowed in sureties of £IOO . each, and the accused's own recognisance of £IOO. .
