Lieut,-Colonel Sommerville, who only retained from South Africa yesterday, this morning was requested to take in hand arrangements for holding a meeting of the Rifle Association next year. The Colonel expects to hold a meeting during March. The authob rities favour the newly acquired range at Trsntham. and if this range should be chosen the Government will connect the ground with the railway from Silverstream. The 303 rifles will be ■aedjand the Colonel is now at work preparing the programme, which will be jasned shortly. It will be practically the programme which had to be dropped this year, but the prize'money will be larger. » A number of marksakeoj Who went with the contingents to fionth Africa, are expected to take part im the, meeting, which most probably " will be" held at Wanganui, but after this it will always be at Trentham.
