The following trains will leave New Plymouth station to-day for the breakwater, connecting with steamer mentioned below 5.45 a.m., Mapourika (from North;; 1 p.m., Mapourika (for South). On Sunday, October 28th:—6.30 a.m., Rotoiti (trom South and for North). Mr. Chas. Edwards, L.T.C.L., arrived this morning from Auokland by the Mapourika for the purpose of conducting Ihe annual musical examinations in connection with Trinity College, London. I The secretary of the Stratford Bacon Company has a notice in another column stating that pigs in any quantity, suitable for bacon, will ba bought at 3gd per ib. Delivery will be taksn every Friday, at Mr. Newton King's Haymarket yards, up to 3 p.m. Mr. Neal has a replace advertisement in this issue to which tne attention of heads of families is particularly directed. Mr. Neal claims to have solved the problem of how to clothe boys at the lowest cost.

The Dresden Piano Company announce a special ten days sale of pi»uos and organs at special prices. Mr. W. J. Brookes, the manager, is conducting the sale. The members of the St. John's Ambulance Association intend holding a social re-union at St. Mary's hall on Monday evening at 7.30, to celebrate the conclusion of the season's course of instruction. It is expected that the Rev. H. Mason will be present and there will be some short addresses bearing on important phases of the work. The proceedings will include some good musical items. Any members providing a contribution to the refreshments will be privileged to bring a friend. The Daily Express announces that Lord Ourzon returns from India in January owing to his wife suffering from the effects of the climate.

The numerous friends of Dr. O'Oarroll will be pleased to learn that he is sufficiently recovered to be able to get about with the aid of a stick. The good news comes from Mr. James Bellringer, who is now on his return voyage to the colony, and has. been transmitted to us by Mr. 0. £. Bellringer.
The Government has formed a Maori Lands Administration Department, with Mr. Sheridan, of the Native Department, at its bead.
A new parcel of books for the Town Library hai just arrived. Thapiece de resistance is Marie Corelli's latest work, " The Master Christian," which has oreated such a phenomenal furore at Home. F our hundred and thirty Japanese labourers have arrived at Sydney under contract for the Noumea mines. A difficulty arose about landing them pending their transhipment, but it was got over by locating them on Shark Island. It is stated that 509 more are eoming to Sydney for transhipment. You cannot do better than read the Dresden Piano Company's announcement In respect of its great sale at the local depst, Devonstreet. The instruments stocked by the Dresden Company are worthy of any musie warehouse in the world.

The railway returns on the Wellington-Napier-New Plymouth section for the four weeks ending 15th September, 1900, show a total revenue of £26,320 0s lid, as against £26,787 lis 3d for the corresponding period I of 1899

Mr. O. N. Baeyertz, M.A., editor and proprietor of the Triad, was in New Plymouth yesterday on business in connection with that magazine. During the past week letters of naturalisation have been issued to thirteen foreigners resident in the colony.
