THE NEW MINISTER.
The announcement in our telegraphie news of the appointment of Mr. Charles Houghton Mills, the member for Wairau, as a member of the Ministry, will give very general satisfaction. Mr, Mills is one of the most respected and popular members of the House, and has an exceedingly good grip of public affairs. As senior whip for the Liberal party, he had a recognised claim on the position. It is not definitely known yet exactly what position be will take. Probably an entire re-arrangetfient of portfolios will take place. Our telegrams indicate his taking over the Departments of Justice and Labour; he will also probable take over the Insurance and Advances to Settlers and
Valuation Department. Mr, Mills takes up his residence in Wellington, and may be depended upon to give deVJted attention to the duties of what ever Departments are placed under his control. We congratulate Mr. Mills on his appointment and the country on securing so capable and industrious an administrator.
