WAR BY BIOGRAPH.

No greater compliment could have been paid to the management of that really splendid entertainment, the Biograph, 1 than the fact that last night, on their further appearance, the Theatre Royal was filled to the doors. As we stated last week, on their opening night they had to contend with the prejudice 1 excited by the very indifferent kine- j matograph shows that had preceded ; them, and nothing but actual ocular demonstration would convince people of the fact that they had in their midst a really superior and first-class show. The good news, however, soon spread, and on each appearance the attendance improved, until last night it would have been very difficult to get any more in the building. To the delight of everyone, most of the pictures were the same as on the previous evenings, the applause being even more hearty than on the first evening, Indeed, the patriotic airs played by the capital orohestra, which is deserving of far. more praise than has been accorded to it for the really good and appropriate music ' rendered throughout the four entertainments, roused the audience in the i pit to a very high pitch of enthusiasm, and they gave " Soldiers ef the Quocn," " Sons of the Sea," and various other song 3 with great zest. The new . pictures shown were quite equal to . those previously given, tttat of Persimmon, H.11.H, the Prince of Wales' ■ Darby winner, buitig a lovely pioture, f the bright glossy coat of the really - beautiful animal being true to life; their Royal Highnesses the Prince and ' Prinoess of Wales inspecting the prize ) stock at the York Agricultural Show was a very fine picture; another of a i train taking up water from a tank - between the rails .while running at a i high rate of speed was a muryclloub - representation. On all sides we beard 1 regret that the season had closed, and t feol satisfied that, a couple of extra nights would have been heartily appreciated. The company leave for Auckland by the Mapourika this evening.
