A WELCOME GIFI. (PUB BRES3 ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, October 3. Dr. Thomas, the new lecturer on music at the University College, and conduotor of the Choral Society, conducted for the first time to-night, and was heartily welcomed on behalf of the members by the Hon. J. A. Tole. The occasion was used by Mr. Henry Brett, proprietor of the Auckland Star, to present tjhe Society with the magoifioient organ erected in the Choral Hail at the time'of the Aucklaud exhibition. The organ, which cost £786, was presented w|tb a proviso, that other musical societies can" have the) use of it at ii nominal fee.; -Dr. Tnbmas has been| appointed, "organise'a*-' All Saintet Angfican uhuroh 1 ."
