Tiie first of the series of matches for trophies donated by various persons to the Taranaki Itilles, took place at the Frankley ltoad ltangcs on Thursday afternoon, under unfavourable conditions, the gusty wind rendering accurate shooting almost impossible. We understand that tho classification was considered so unsatisfactory that a protest has been entered.
The next competition takes place on October 4 th.
Id addition to the ordinary parade on Monday night, the Taranaki Rifles will have a special company parade on Thursday next, at 7.25. Section roll* must be called and sections proved, and che company ready to be taken over by tha captain at 7.30 sharp.
