ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP. [PBB PEBSS ASSOOLATIO*.] Auckland, September 20. The Association football championship tournament for the Brown Challenge Shield was opened to-day, at Potter's Paddock, when Auckland (the present holders of the trophy) met Wellington, and after a fairly interesting game, much marred by the rain, which fell heavily during the greater part of the afternoon, Auckland won by six goals to one. Auckland had the best of the game except for the iirst ten minutes, when Wellington pressed. The com'ai nation of the visitors was superior to that of Auckland in the iirct spell, but the home team improved greatly iu the secoiid spell. Auckland meets Ofcago iu the final on Saturday.
