The damage, including that to the cotton crops which are spoilt by the rain, is 15 million dollars. VESSELS CARRIED MILES INLAND. Received 12, 10.50 p.m. New Yoke, Saptember 12. Steam launches and schooners were carried ten miles inland at Galveston by the tidal wave, while the dead in the cemeteries were washed out to sea. 3ALVERSTON FIVE FEET UNDER WATER.

TERRIBLE SUFFERINGS OF THE INHABITANTS.

A COTTON FAMINE PREDICTED. (Received 13, 1.5 a,m.) New Yobk, September 12. The tempest came from opposite directions, and the waters of the bay and the gulf meeting succeeded in covering the highest parts of Galveston to the height of five feet. Many of the inhabitants died of hunger and thirst. An epidemic of disease is new threatened.

All bodies are being conveyed to sea for burial, and criminals are looting valuables.
