TABANAKI V. WANGANUI. I i,THB WASGAHUI TEAM. | <- BGHOOLB MATCH. On Saturday last two teams from the . New Plymouth High School, a first and a second, took a trip to Stratford to play two corresponding teams from the District High School there. The junior match, which was well fought throughout, ended in a victory of six points to nil for the Stratford boys, who, besides being rather heavier, were evidently .more used to the greasy nature of the ground, which was under water in parts. After both teams had been entertained at luocheon, the senior match was played and produced a very close tussle. The state of the ground was all against the New Plymouth boy?, who were unable to play an open passing game, and the game was almost entirely confined to the forwards, of whom the Stratford boys had a fine even lot. Matters were made very lively fsr the visitors, who had to force a few times. A change in the places of some members of the team made a difference, and shortly after the second BjriU had begun, Billing seized the ball from the line out and passed to Outfield, who scored. The ball was too heavy to allow of a goal being kicked, though Bewley made a good attempt. The rest of the game was ia favour ef New Plymouth, who were, however, unable to score. For Stratford, Olimie and Harknees were about the pick, and besides those already named, Bewley, Goodacre, Paul, Fraeer, and Horrocks played a good game. Mr Symes made a capable referee. After the match the visitors were entertained at the school, where afternoon tea was dispensed and several songs were sung. Mr Tyrer, the headmaster, epoke a few words ef welcome to the New Plymouth boys, and soon after a start was made for borne. All the team speak in high praise of the handsome manner in which they were treated. COMMERCIALS Y. BANK AND LAW CLERKS. - The following team will represent the Commercials in the above match oa Thursday next in the Recreation Grounds:—Full-back, Clarke ; threequarters, Honeyfield, Power, McNicoll; five-eighth, Mclntyre; half, Robinson; wings, Oswin, McAra; forwards, Waggon, Kivell, Ryan, Shaw, Tuke, K.
