WELLINGTON CRIMINAL SESBIONS. PEE PBDSS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, August 20. In his address to the Grand Jury at the opening of the criminal sessions, Sir Bobert Stout said he was glad to say, notwithstanding the increased population of the district, there did not seem 10 be any increase in crime. No doubt this might ba caused by the groater prosperity of the colony, and also by the fact that tie p lico were careful and vigilant in the deteotion of crime. Latbk, Mullis Asltonden was found guilty on three charges of embezzling moneys of the Goold Bicycle Company, and was remanded for sentence. Tho following prisoners pleaded guilty and were also remanded for sentence:— Harold P. Gandy, theft of bicycle; John Meyer and Frank Voss, attempted burglary; George D.mt, forgery. Louis Doyle was sontonced to two years for theft, and Alexander Roid to eighteen months for forgery. i William Everebt was acquitted of the charge of stealing a portmanteau from the Manawatu Railway Station,
